The C8 Corvette Stingray will lead the field to green for this weekend’s running of the Daytona 500.
The Corvette that will pace this year’s Daytona 500 is a Rapid Blue model with the Z51 Performance Package and the available High Wing Spoiler. It features a special pace car livery, as well, which includes black, white and blue vinyl stripes, Daytona 500 door decals and an ‘Official Pace Car’ decal just above the rocker panels.
While the C8 Corvette Stingray will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to green for the Daytona 500 on Sunday, the Chevy Camaro and Chevy Silverado will also have an on-track presence at Daytona this weekend. A Silverado 1500 RST will serve as the pace car for Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, while a Camaro SS 1LE will pace the XFinity Series Race on Saturday. Chevy was quick to point out that its three Small Block-powered pace cars have an impressive cumulative output of 1,370 horsepower – making them the perfect trio to kick off this year’s NASCAR racing season.
Chevy is also using the Daytona 500 to promote its newly launched MyWay virtual showroom. The automaker will host a free webcast at Chevrolet.com/MyWay on Saturday, February 13th, which will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Chevy’s Daytona racing history. The broadcast will also feature a segment that compares the similarities between the road-going Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE and the version that races in the NASCAR Cup Series.
“Coming off of a successful 2020 on track in all three NASCAR national series, our drivers and teams are fired up and looking to put Chevrolet back in Victory Lane, starting at Daytona,” Tony Johnson, Chevy’s director of Car and Crossover Marketing, said in a prepared statement. “In addition to exciting green-flag racing, we’re really looking forward to showing off the Daytona 500 Corvette Stingray pace car and so much more for race fans Saturday during the ‘Live from Daytona’ broadcast presented by Chevy MyWay.”
Chevy MyWay allows users to book a one-on-one session with a sales representative, who can inform them about the company’s latest products, demonstrate vehicle features and even connect them with a local dealership to continue the buying process. GM has already experimented with online virtual showrooms via its Cadillac Live service, which proved crucial for generating sales leads amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but MyWay is the first service of its kind for the automaker’s mass-market brand.
The Daytona 500 will go green on Sunday, February 14th at 2:30 p.m. ET.
