CHEVROLET RELEASES OFFICIAL 2021 CORVETTE INFO INCLUDING FIRST LOOK AT THE NEW SILVER FLARE EXTERIOR
There are actually two new colors planned for 2021 which are called Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat and Silver Flare Metallic. Red Mist will be replacing Long Beach Red and Silver Flare will be replacing the long-running Blade Silver Metallic that’s been on Corvettes since 2009. Chevrolet was good enough to share the above photo which allows us to see the new color on the C8 Corvette and so far we are liking what we see. Chevy has actually been showing Silver Flare since last October when the color debuted in plain sight on the No. 4 C8.R race car.
To us, the new silver exterior color appears darker than the outgoing color, and with the Metallic flake in the exterior, we expect it to look great in the sun. Like many of the lighter colors, the C8’s black vents and trim offer a great contrast with the color, and this example looks like it has the 3LT Morello Red interior.
As we’ve discussed, Chevrolet is carrying over the MSRP for the Coupe which starts at $59,995 and the Convertible which begins at $67,495. Both prices are for the 1LT trim packages and it includes the destination freight charge. We believe the 2LT and 3LT trim packages will also retain their same price as the 2020s but changes are most likely coming for some of the individual options. We’ll know more about pricing later this month.

Driver mode on-screen visualization and new track digital tachometer
Standard Buckle To Drive, a safety technology that, when active, can prevent the driver from shifting the vehicle out of Park if the driver’s seat belt is not buckled for up to 20 seconds; this feature is designed to help remind all drivers to buckle up before driving.
“Our mission was to develop a new sports car, combining the successful attributes of Corvette with the performance and driving experience of mid-engine supercars,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer. “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm the mid-engine Corvette brought following its launch and are keeping it fresh with new content for the 2021 model.”

We noticed that in this release that there wasn’t any discussion of the “Stingray R” special edition that was included in a 2021 model year leak by a dealer back in March.
Coming later in July will be the release of the 2021 Corvette Order Guide with pricing to follow. On July 30th, Chevrolet will open the order books for the 2021 model year with production expected to start sometime in November. Based on the current demand of the car, I am almost expecting the 2021 model year to be a repeat of 2020 where the car was essentially sold out once ordering opened up. So make sure you get with your dealers early to get your order in.
